Club Rules & Regulations
(Revised February, 2004)

The following Rules and Regulations are for the SAFETY, INFORMATION and BENEFIT of all F.C.A. members.

SECTION I - SAFETY RULES

SAFETY first, last and always. BE ALERT, STAY UNHURT.
  1. All members must sign in on arrival and sign out when they depart. This is a requirement of the OAA and FCA for insurance purposes. By signing in and out archers will know if other archers are on the property and can consider their safety while shooting and retrieving arrows. A binder will be provided in the clubhouse for this purpose.
  2. PRACTICE RANGES - 5 to 100 yard target areas.
Clear communication is absolutely essential when using the marked yardage target ranges. Before any archer commences to shoot he/she will ensure that no one is pulling or looking for arrows at or behind the targets. Once shooting has completed someone must shout "CLEAR" before any shooter moves off the line to retrieve arrows.
SHOOTING WILL RESUME WHEN ALL SHOOTERS RETURN TO FIRING LINE.
  3. LOST ARROWS
When looking for arrows you must let other people know where you are at all times. Leave you bow and or quiver in full view of target area while you are looking. This is a SAFETY REQUIREMENT to let all people know that someone is down range and out of sight.
  4. ENTERING EACH TARGET STATION
Before nocking an arrow it is your responsibility to make sure that there is no one down range of you. If in doubt yell out "IS THERE ANYONE THERE?"
  5. SKY PULLING
"SKY PULLING" is not permitted. Arrows must be drawn level with the ground so that if the arrow is accidentally released it has a reasonable chance of hitting the target.
  6. USE OF BOW HANGERS
It is the archer's responsibility to the condition of the bow hanger before using it to support their equipment. Archers are to use bow hangers at their own risk and are responsible for any damage to their equipment.
  7. USE OF TARGETS
    1. It is the archer's responsibility to check the condition of the target prior to taking a shot. Archers are responsible for any damage to their equipment.
    2. Single spot faces are not to be used on the 20 and 30 yard targets. All fixed yardage targets are only to be shot at for their designated yardage. For example the 100 yard target is not to be used for any shot other than 100 yards. Unmarked yardage targets are for range estimating. No more than 1 or 2 arrows on a round should be shot at these targets.
    3. BROADHEADS: The use of broadheads is not permitted on Forest City Archers property except for the sand pit located by the upper range. Archers using the sand pit for broadheads are required to provide their own target and butts.
  8. TRAIL AND TRAIL TARGETS
The trail around the club property has been marked with a series of bow hangers. From the main gate and clubhouse the trail runs behind the outhouse (counterclockwise) or down the path in front of the practice targets. Shooting the targets along this trail must be at 90° to the target or within 2 and 1/2 yards of that location either way.
It is imperative that all archers stay on the trail and the paths to the targets.
Under NO circumstances should anyone deviate from this marked trail or take short cuts when archers are using the targets.
  9. 3D TRAIL TARGETS
    1. 3D Trail Targets are not to be used as a sighting in target. Restrict your arrows to one preferably, two maximum per round.
    2. 3D Trail Targets are not to be moved by club members. They have been set up in a safe location and are only to be shot at from the stake marked by their bow hanger.
    3. Club tournament targets are only used for major fund raising events and are not available for any other event.
    4. When the tournament 3D targets are replaced with newer ones, the retired ones will be placed out as trail targets. In most cases the original target vital area has been shot out. These retired 3D targets are to be treated as a stump shot. Therefore, pick a solid spot and enjoy shooting them.
  10. REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE OF TRAILS AND RANGES
    1. Targets are the responsibility of all archers who enjoy the use of them. Please use them with care. If they need to be repaired please contact one of the directors.
    2. Please do not litter.
